We adopted Burckhalter Elementary School in 1993.  We staff the library 2 days a week usually Wednesday and Thursday.   Burckhalter is located off Hwy 13 in Oakland. If you seek a volunteer opportunity that offers incredible rewards, please consider this opportunity.

• Our volunteers manage the entire operation of the library at Burckhalter Elementary School in Oakland, providing for an underserved community that would otherwise lack access to a library. For over 25 years, we have been running this library, ensuring that every class can visit it on a weekly basis. Our volunteers engage with the students by reading stories and imparting essential library and research skills. We continuously expand the library’s collection by adding books generously donated by our members
