Good governance creates a strong future for an organization by continuously steering towards a vision and making sure that our leaders are always lined up with the organization’s goals. Three documents ensure this happens.
- The first is our Bylaws, which are the basic governance structure for our branch. We reviewed and updated these recently.
- The second document is our Policies and Procedures. This guides the workings of the board. The board reviewed and modified these in the spring to be consistent with the Bylaws changes and to reflect current board activities.
- The third document is our Standing Rules, which affect the entire membership. They are adopted or changed by a vote of the membership at a general meeting.
Listed below are the documents that govern the Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette branch of the AAUW. While mainly of interest to members, anyone is invited to read them.
Most of the following are .pdf files. To open and read a .pdf file, you must use Adobe Reader. If you do not have Adobe Reader, download and install it, following the install directions.

As is required by our By-laws, a proposed budget for the OML Branch Operating corporation for each fiscal year is drafted by the Budget Committee and presented to the Board each August. The new By-laws for the Community Outreach Fund requires the same process for the budget of this 501(c)(3) organization {non-profit, tax-exempt}. Both budgets are approved by the Board at the August meeting and approved by membership each September. - Policies and Procedures
